Room 1940

1940 marks the year my mother, Rosalba, was born, at dawn on June 21. My grandfather thought she was as beautiful as his beloved roses, which inspired her name. This spacious room overlooks Via Grimaldi, one of Modica’s most charming streets, still paved with its original stone slabs and known for its historic buildings and small bridges. From the large private balcony, you can admire the façade of the Church of San Pietro, the narrow street below and the Clock Tower. It is a magical spot for an aperitivo at sunset or breakfast in the early morning. The double bed features an original 1940s headboard and footboard, painted in a soft blue that complements the warm gray walls and taupe-beige ceiling. Bright and welcoming, the room also includes a quiet corner for tea. The fully equipped bathroom combines neutral tones with blue and gray arabesque patterns. A small window looks out over the rooftops toward the façade of the Church of San Pietro.
